1. INTRODUCTION

Hola and Welcome I am Doux Sourire, wife of Captain Smith, and someone who once couldn't boil water and now makes magic in the kitchen. Before I became a sailor's wife, I was the spoiled daughter of my father, loved, pampered, protected and blissfully unaware of the world. But deep down , I never really knew what I wanted from life. I didn't know, what I was good at, nor did I have any real hobbies or direction. I got married at the age of 22, just after completing my masters in Commerce, turned out to be a beautiful arrange marriage. We had two and half years of courtship before tying the knot on 5th December 2014. My journey from not knowing how to even turn on the gas to confidently running a home has been shaped by my incredible mother in law who patiently taught me everything from organising a household with grace to managing finances. I was deeply in love with my husband and wanted to give my best as a wife. The work that had once felt alien started becoming fulfilling. I found joy in little things- managing home, preparing meals and creating a warm, welcoming space. Today I feel proud of how far I have come, specially when I see the joy on my husband's face after a good home cooked meal. In 2020, I began sailing with my husband, an experience that turned my world upside down (in best way). Since then I have travelled more than 12 countries, crossing oceans, docking in charming ports and collecting unforgettable moments. Life with a sea Captain is not just about watching the waves. Its about embracing storms, sunrises and beautiful stillness in between. Inspired by my husband's passion for Mixed Martial Arts, I joined him in learning MMA in 2023. Its been one of the most empowering things I have ever done - punches, sweat and strength. Now I am also diving into a new adventure, learning Spanish, unveiling a new world of language. It was one of my dear friend and my former geography teacher who after hearing about my sailing journeys, encouraged me to start writing. So here I am, finally taking the leap. This blog is my space to share: - Stories from sea. -Tales of transformation. -Hidden stories from port cities. -Every day's joy and lesson and everything in between. If you love stories from faraway places, simple moments wrapped in meaning or just want to see the world through the eyes of a Captain's wife, you are in the right place. Welcome to my world. Let's set sail.
